Bowles theory

The Bowles solution allows for incorporating the influence of the cohesion on the root bearing capacity – therefore it is more suitable for cohesive soils.

where: d - root diameter
l - root length
Ko - coefficient of pressure at rest
σz - average geostatic stress at the micropile root
φ - average magnitude of angle of internal friction at the micropile root
