Truss 2D

Truss 2D is the basic analysis program of the entire suite.

It performs design and check of individual trusses. Structural analysis is based on the Finite Element Method. Trusses can be verified according to various standards. The program also includes tools for generating price calculations, data exports to CAD systems or documentation for machinery equipment.

Structure input

  • automatic generator of common truss shapes including arches, frames, attics etc.
  • semi-automatic entering of basic load states
  • optional automatic generation of load state combinations

Analysis features

  • internal forces analysis based on the Finite Element Method (FEM)
  • traditional linear structural analysis and geometrically non-linear analysis (buckling influence)
  • linear stability analysis to check in plane and out of plane buckling of individual members
  • arbitrary loads applied to the structure - force, moment, deformation, temperature and self-weight load
  • various types and properties of supports – spring support, rotation and shift of supports
  • possibility to introduce a member from different material (steel ties, glued laminated timber)

Modelling features

  • automatic solution of symmetric elements and details
  • simple introducing of overhangs at supports and peaks of the structure
  • stiffening wedges providing adequate stress distribution in support joints
  • introducing of timber stiffeners to members subjected to high stress levels
  • automatic design of splices of long chord members
  • automatic design of long lateral braces preventing out of plane buckling of slender compression members
  • possibility to divide the structure for manufacturing or transportation reasons
  • specifying of non-structural members and nail plates anywhere in the structure
  • generating of arc cut-pieces including manufacturing documentation

Design and check

  • supported designing standards: EN 1995-1-1 (including national annexes) , CSN 73 1701, STN 73 1701
  • timber and nail plate assortment opened for user’s modifications
  • various structure design modes according to user involvement (automatic, semi-automatic, user)
  • consideration of symmetry in design and check of the structure
  • possibility of nail plates design optimalization considering the price
  • computation of total truss deflection and the appropriate check

Output documents

  • templates of documents: quotation, structural analysis, manufacturing documentation etc.
  • printing of output documents to*.pdf and *.rtf files
  • exports of trusses and structures to CAD programs (DXF, CADwork, DiCAM, SEMA)
  • generating of files for automatic multi-angle saw Stromab and digital press Bova
