Sector – Characteristics of thin-walled steel cross-sections

The program determines cross-sectional parameters of thin-wall steel cross-sections.

Besides the properties calculated by the program Section it also computes so called sectorial characteristics required for analysis of torsional behaviour of beams.

The program determines:

  • location of the centre of gravity
  • cross-sectional area
  • second moments of area and product second moment of area
  • radii of gyration
  • ellipse of inertia
  • torsion constant
  • location of the shear centre
  • sectorial coordinate
  • sectorial area
  • warping torsion constant

Cross-section may consist of boxes, walls and rolled profiles of different thickness.
