Steel – Design of steel elements according to EN 1993-1-1

The program performs design of steel cross-sections and members according to EN 1993-1-1 (Eurocode 3).

Main features

  • database of common rolled and welded profiles
  • user-defined cross-sections
  • design and check of solid and common composed cross-sections
  • database of steel grades including user-defined material
  • unlimited number of load cases
  • input of holes and openings for calculation of net cross-section area
  • diaphragms for prevention of lateral torsional buckling

Results

  • analysis and check of selected cross-section or whole member
  • verification of selected load case or finding of the decisive one
  • compression verification with or without the influence of buckling
  • bending verification with or without the influence of lateral torsional buckling
  • verification of member slenderness

The program works by itself or more efficient together with FIN 2D, where a user specify the whole structure and the program calculates deformations and internal forces and sends data to program Steel. Verifications or modifications of cross-sections or other properties are performed here and then sent back to FIN 2D. Such mutual communication leads to efficient optimization of structure design.

The program has been developed in collaboration with a team of specialists from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of CTU in Prague. Technical guarantor of the project is Prof. Ing. Frantisek Wald, Csc.

We recommend

Individual design programs work separately, however to make your work easier we recommend purchasing the following programs for structural analysis:

  • FIN 3D – Analysis of 3D beam and frame structures
  • FIN 2D – Analysis of 2D beam and frame structures
