Upgrades and updates

I would like to use your software in a different language than I am using now. I downloaded and installed the latest update in the new language, however language of my program did not change.

It is necessary to download the appropriate language version of an update to keep Help system working properly. So you should always download updates for currently purchased language. Contact our local dealer to get more detailed information on language versions of Fine software available for your region.

How do I install an update – the file does not have any extension?

Correctly downloaded update file is a program with extension .exe (e.g. “geo5update_4_en.exe”) and can be run by double-click. However, it often happens that a browser saves the file without extension. If a missing extension is the only problem that occurred during downloading the file, add the extension manually using Windows function “Rename” and run the file by double-click.

Licences

How many computers may I install your software on?

The number of computers is not limited, however the program can run only on the computer with the appropriate hardlock connected.

Hardlocks

What is a hardlock?

Hardlock is a tiny device to be attached to a computer. It protects our software against illegal copying. Protected software cannot run without an appropriate hardlock connected to the computer.

When is it necessary to change my hardlock?

All programs of GEO5 require new type of hardlock – HASP HL. If you still only use some programs of suites FIN10 or GEO4 and you are going to purchase GEO5, you might have to change your hardlock. You can simply find out using the installation CD, whether you need a new one or not. On the main menu choose “Hardlocks/Advanced tools/Verify hardlock compatibility”.

Software does not work after I changed my hardlock for a new one.

In order for a protected program to operate correctly, the program needs to find some information saved into your hardlock by the installation program. After the change, the hardlock was set correctly, but it is empty. You need to run the appropriate installation program for each of the programs protected by the hardlock.

I have your software and a hardlock that is attached to my computer. May I use any installation CD?

Each installation CD can be used only with those hardlocks, which it was created for. List of admissible (permitted) hardlocks is included on the leaflet inside the cover of your installation CD. Same information can be found using the main menu displayed when the CD is inserted into your computer. Click: “Explore CD”, “Install”, product name and “product.ini”.

Does a network hardlock have to be necessarily connected to a LAN server?

No, it does not. A network hardlock can be connected to any computer capable of running NetHASP License Manager and visible in LAN network.

I have a network hardlock directly connected to my computer. Does this computer have to be also connected to a LAN network?

Any computer where a protected program is used, and which a network hardlock is connected to, must always satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Program NetHASP License Manager is installed
  2. Hardlock drivers are installed (they are usually installed automatically by NetHASP License Manager)
  3. At least one connection to LAN network is defined within the operating system and it must be in state “connected”. It means there is a transmission medium such as cable, WiFi signal etc. detected.
What do I need for using a network hardlock on the same computer where the protected program is?

Any computer where a protected program is used, and which a network hardlock is connected to, must always satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Program NetHASP License Manager is installed
  2. Hardlock drivers are installed (they are usually installed automatically by NetHASP License Manager)
  3. At least one connection to LAN network is defined within the operating system and it must be in state “connected”. It means there is a transmission medium such as cable, WiFi signal etc. detected.
Can I run a program protected by a network hardlock on the same computer, where the network hardlock is installed?

A network hardlock is directly connected to my computer, where I also use the protected program. However the program reports: “No hardlock with valid licence found”

What do I need to provide for a network hardlock to work properly?

If a hardlock driver does not find any local hardlocks connected to the computer, it searches for a network hardlock. In order for a network hardlock to work properly, the following conditions must be satisfied:

  1. A network hardlock is connected to a computer which is available for other computers of LAN network
  2. Hardlock drivers are installed on the computer, which the hardlock is connected to. Program NetHASP License Manager has to be also installed and in operation.
  3. Network elements and local network protocols are configured to allow communication between hardlock drivers installed on the workstation where a protected program is used and program NetHASP License Manager running on the computer which the hardlock is connected to. To get more information, see the documentation included on the installation CD. More details can be found in files NetHASP.ini and NHSrv.ini. In most cases network modifications or using of files NetHASP.ini and NHSrv.ini should not be necessary.
