Calculation of Winkler-Pasternak parameters C1 and C2 from geological profile
A characteristic combination of loading must be chosen when calculating the Winkler–Pasternak parameters (C1, C2) from the geological profile. This combination should be considered as service and should correspond to the most frequently appearing load. Using this combination a surcharge at the footing bottom is calculated next followed by calculation of the influence zone.
Deformation parameters (Poisson’s number, deformation modulus) are determined for the calculated influence zone as a weighted average of deformation parameters of soils. Given these parameters the Winkler–Pasternak constants (C1, C2) are then calculated in the following way.
