Shear Force in the Nail
In nail shear bearing capacity check, the slip surface is considered at the maximum depth of the weathered layer. The shear force Fs is determined from forces acting on the soil block.
Shear force in nail
where: | Fs | - | shear force in the nail |
W | - | soil block weight | |
Fnail | - | force in the nail
Fw | - | force due to water flow
lv | - | vertical spacing | |
lh | - | horizontal spacing
t | - | weathered layer thickness
ω | - | slope inclination | |
α | - | nail inclination | |
φ | - | angle of the internal friction in a weathered layer
c | - | cohession in a weathered layer
A | - | block base area |
If the water flow is considered, the program calculates with water in the entire weathered layer.
